10 Things I Love About the Winter

Thanks to the climate here in the Bay Area winter is a wonderful time to hike. The trails are less crowded, the weather is usually fairly mild, and the forests are teeming with life. There are many reasons to love hiking in the winter, but here are a few.

1. Surprise snowfall.

2. Waterfalls at full flow.

3. Cool, crisp weather.

4. Clouds lingering in the mountains after a passing storm

5. Morning frost

6. Tracks in mud and snow

7. Mushrooms

8. Green Hills

9.Hiking during a storm.

10. The smell of the forest after a fresh rain.

What are your favorite things about the winter?
