The gear reviews found on this page represent practical experiences I've had with gear. I've felt compelled to write these reviews because good gear does genuinely effect the outcome of a trip. I greatly value ease of use, weight, aesthetics, and above all functionality. I tend not to value gear which sacrifices any of these things for extreme returns in one category (ex. lightweight gear which functions poorly and looks ugly, or gear with all the bells and whistles that weights as much as a sub-compact car). Bonus points for cheap or sustainability manufactured gear. On occasion I've had gear sent to me by the manufacturer for a review but generally this list contains personal purchases.
